Pentimento

2021, 42x14x14in, porcelain and underglaze, wheel thrown base with pinching and coiling, cone 6 oxidation

When I pinch my porcelain vessels into creation, my hands work in the same familiar methodical pattern of my grandmother’s– as she knit, or penned letters, or chopped tomatoes for dinner. My body remembers her joys and her fears, and carries them both into the dewy morning.

“my beloved is mine”

“my beloved is mine” is a catalogue of the many forms a ghost can take— a pot, a map, a recipe, a word, a faded photo, a red string leading you home, and love, which transcends time.
